Oliver is Two!!

Today is very special, our Oliver is two years old!!  He has lived with us since he was 6 months old, a wild and woolly kitten who had been surrendered by his first owner to the Wisconsin Humane Society.  He is now a somewhat wild but totally wonderful cat, settled into ruling the house and us as well.

He woke up this a.m. purring, happy, scampering about, knowing it was "his special day."  He especially liked the birthday singing, and the cake is fun to investigate and watch us eat (ridiculously yummy).  We dared not light the candle.

What a blessing a pet is.  We were reluctant at retirement time to take on a new young cat, but oh we are so happy we did.  He makes each day brighter, and happier, and more fun.  If we are bored, we say "where is Oliver?"  "What is he up to?" and he will stroll in and do something cute.  He helps us get through the bad times, and makes good times that much better.

I think he knows now we are his forever people.

Give your pet companion an extra hug today, or adopt one at your shelter who needs a loving home.  They give us so much in return.
Diane

Happy Birthday Oliver! Pets are indeed a blessing. I have 3 fur boy rescues who keep me company when my hubby is out of town, make me laugh, motivate me to exercise and in general just make life that much more happier!

Happy Birthday Oliver. You are lucky to own two such wonderful people. I know my two people always say I am the center of their universe. It's a weighty responsibility to have people love you so much, but I'm sure you are up to the task.

Happy Birthday to Oliver! I am the one that got the presents though when Diane's two books "guide to machine quilting" and "Quilt Savy" showed up on my doorstep. I am so excited to dig into the books with hopes that I will improve my quilting.

Oliver,
I hope you had a lovely day. Do you have any cake left over?

I'm so pleased you got him. I think a birthday cake made for humans is just unfair...

Thanks everyone! He had a great day, we ate half the cake and he enjoyed the excitement. If we could have had a special food treat for him we would have, but he only likes his dry food and an occasional nibble on raw green veggies. It's hard to give him a food treat, but he got extra play time with us and the cat dancer. He seemed very happy.

Oliver is adorable. We also rescued/adopted a pet. And, yes, they make our lives so special.

Happy Birthday Oliver. What a fun birthday party your mom is throwing for you. Of course, I hope she'll take time to enter you in the Pets on Quilts Show on my blog, that is going on this week. {hint, hint}.

Happy Birthday to Oliver! It's so good to read up on what you have been up to, Diane! It's like catching up with news about a celebrity, which you definitely are in my book. :)

Happy Belated Birthday to Oliver! He looks so handsome with his cake. And you are so right about pets being such blessings! I couldn't live without a feline or two...or three, as is the current case lol.

Your so right that sweet animals bring happiness and fun when we retired. We've had one little Gidget for a few years and then .. Silly me I went in one of the rescue traveling RV's and just was going to take LOOK, Silly me! I went home empty handed but two darling sisters caught my heart and I just had to go adopt them. Of course ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) helper couldn't find them, we looked all over until we found them. They fill our life so full of joy and happiness. Three cats are a bit much but we wouldn't trade them for anything. Happy Birthday Oliver! From Gidget, Ms. Paws and Sneezie
